Seeking hands-on experience in the voluntary sector? Whether you're interested in a student placement, work experience, traineeship, or apprenticeship, Humbercare offers a wealth of exciting opportunities.

Social Work Student Placements

Are you a social worker in training looking for a student placement opportunity? Humbercare welcomes students from both Hull and Lincoln University to join our dynamic team.

Our placement opportunities provide thought-provoking learning experiences that align with the Professional Capabilities Framework. You'll have access to quality internal and external training, regular one-to-one and group supervision, and the chance for peer learning. As a member of our team, you'll support adults with complex needs, providing advice and guidance on various issues such as employment, training, education, housing, and finance. You'll actively participate in statutory tasks, processes, and professional meetings, gaining hands-on experience in child protection, child in need, and multi-agency public protection arrangements (MAPPA). Collaborating with professionals from both the statutory and voluntary sectors, you'll contribute to client-led assessments and utilise various social work tools to make a positive impact.

The Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)

The Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) is a 12-month employer-led program designed to support and assess newly qualified social workers (NQSWs).

Humbercare proudly participates in the ASYE program, which assesses NQSWs against the knowledge and skills statement for social workers in adult services. This program helps NQSWs develop their capabilities and strengthen their professional competence within an employment environment. It serves as the first step in their lifelong career development, benefiting both the individual social worker and the adult social care sector as a whole.

Work Experience and Traineeships

Humbercare collaborates with local training, education, and employment establishments to provide work experience placements and traineeships.

We offer opportunities such as:

  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care: Students studying this practical, work-related course equivalent to three A levels can spend a full week at Humbercare as part of their placement.
  • Preparation for Work Scheme: Through the Department for Work and Pensions, we offer a set number of hours per week over an agreed period to support individuals in their preparation for work. We provide guidance, supervision, and a comprehensive written report at the end of the placement, detailing learning outcomes and performance.
  • Sixth Form one-week work experience placements in an office based administration role providing a student with a varied role introducing them to the world of work

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are an excellent pathway to kickstart your career, offering practical on-the-job experience, essential learning tools, and lifelong qualifications.

At Humbercare, we currently offer apprenticeship opportunities in the areas of Administration and Finance at both our Hull and Grimsby office sites. As an apprentice, you'll gain:

  • Work Experience: You'll have real responsibilities, making a valuable contribution as a member of our team.
  • Mentorship: An experienced workplace mentor will guide and support you throughout your job and qualification.
  • Qualifications: You'll earn practical and theoretical qualifications ranging from GCSE to Master's degree level.
  • Workplace Skills: Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll develop valuable skills, support others, and learn through practical application.

Our Mental Health Crisis Intervention Service is ran in partnership with Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, which is a key service within the Right Care Right Person Project. In October 2023 this innovative service was shortlisted as a finalist in the HSJ Awards 2023 Place-based Partnership and Integrated Care Award category and we are delighted to say that we achieved the High Commendation Award!

We are currently accredited to the Matrix Standard by The Growth Company, this is the international quality standard for organisations that deliver information, advice and/or guidance as part of their service offering. It is an outcome based assessment that not only looks at processes used to support delivery of information, advice and guidance but also how the results are achieved. This accreditation helps us to benchmark against best practice and demonstrates that we offer high quality information advice and guidance services.

Humbercare is proud to have achieved compliance against the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit. We measure our performance against the National Data Guardians 10 data security standards through an online assessment.

Throughout delivery of our services and as an organisation that has access to NHS patient data and systems we must use this toolkit to provide assurance that we are practicing good data security and that we are remaining GDPR compliant. In order to meet these requirements we are assessed annually to ensure best possible practice.

Humbercare Ltd has committed to working to end men’s violence against women by becoming White Ribbon Accredited. As an Accredited organisation, Humbercare Ltd will develop and deliver a comprehensive Action Plan to change the cultures that lead to abuse and violence and promote gender equality.

White Ribbon is a global campaign that encourages people, and especially men and boys, to individually and collectively take action and change the behaviour and culture that leads to abuse and violence. To wear a white ribbon is to promise to never to commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women.

Glasspool Charity Trust have been making a meaningful difference to the lives of individuals and families facing financial difficulties since 1939.  Humbercare has been selected to be a frontline partner for the Flexible Frontline Fund sole grants programme.  The programme enables frontline organisations, such as ourselves; that provide whole-person support, to access and distribute grant funds to their service users and clients.  The grant funding can be used for a range of household goods and services; and by offering flexibility, Glasspool and frontline organisations make a real-time impact on the lives of individuals, couple and families across the UK.  Humbercare is proud to have been selected as a partner and is awarding grants on a daily basis to alleviate the financial pressures and challenging times our service users face.
