X2 Housing Support Officers - General Womens Service, 20hrs

Contract: 

  • 20hrs a week, Permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  
    • Ensure Humbercare Ltd delivers an effective Housing Related Support (HRS) service across all tenures, in line with management contracts between Humbercare Ltd and current or future partner organisations.
    • Ensure services are customer-focused and responsive to local needs by working closely with statutory, voluntary, and private sector agencies, encouraging involvement and feedback as an integral part of service delivery.
    • Assess referrals by identifying support, risk, and housing needs using a Housing First approach, and communicate assessment outcomes to the Senior Practitioner and HRS Manager to support waiting list management and implementation planning.
    • Work collaboratively with key partners supporting women and with the Housing Options Team throughout the co-delivery of services and support packages.
    • Deliver tailored support packages that enable customers to build and maintain the skills required for independent living, in line with contractual requirements.
    • Respond appropriately and non-threateningly to customers experiencing distress or crisis, recognising that support may be required during days, evenings, and weekends.
    • Encourage and support customers to maintain a living environment that reflects their wishes and needs through a psychologically informed environment (PIE) approach.
    • Promote recovery-focused, trauma-informed, and person-centred support practices.
    • Work in partnership with relevant statutory and voluntary agencies, signposting customers to appropriate services where required. Attend professional, local group, and agency meetings to represent both the service user and the organisation to a high standard.
    • Prioritise safeguarding and ensure customer rights are protected at all times.
    • Support customers to plan, shop for, and prepare healthy meals within a budget, respecting individual choices and preferences.
    • Support, advise, or signpost customers to maximise and sustain income through budgeting, money management, and benefit access, including tenancy sustainment support and assisting management with housing benefit shortfalls or related queries.
    • Maintain and record high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping.
    • Ensure buildings remain secure, and that incidents and behaviours are appropriately monitored and communicated.
    • Manage individual customer caseloads, providing floating support across multiple locations.
    • Support customers to improve and maintain physical and mental health, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyles, encouraging personal safety and protection from abuse.
    • Support customers to build and maintain positive relationships with family, friends, and the wider community through meaningful activities, education, and training, promoting awareness of risks, strengths, and needs.
    • Support customers to move on to independent living when ready, including completing move-on applications, property bidding, and move-out processes.

    Essential Requirements:

    • Educated to Level 2 Diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience of working in a social care or similar environment, preferably with females.
    • Knowledge of Psychologically Informed Environments and Trauma Informed Care Principles and Practice.
    • Knowledge of statutory and voluntary support agencies that specialise supporting females.
    • Working knowledge of person-centred, strengths-based approaches to support and care planning.
    • Experience of working with others to achieve successful outcomes.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
    • Team working experience, working cooperatively with colleagues in complex, pressurised situations.
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to effectively manage a caseload.

    • Willing to work towards a recognised housing/care/support qualification.
