Hostel Assistant (40 Hours)

Your key responsibilities will involve supporting in the day-to-day operations of Westbourne House and ensuring that all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to. These duties will include:

• Timely preparation of accommodation for clients, including helping to move clients into the accommodation.
• Ensure standards of cleanliness and ‘housekeeping’ tasks are maintained and recorded.
• To ensure the building is secure and incidents/ behaviours monitored and communicated appropriately.
• To ensure the efficient running of the service’s rolling maintenance programme, to evidence reactive response to any issues and record accordingly.
• To ensure Health and Safety requirements are met and recorded, i.e. fire safety, food safety, cleaning rotas, staff and service user log in.

• To complete the risk assessment element of the service’s booking-in procedure.
• To assist in the preparation/ delivery of service user meals ensuring food safety, safer food better business standards, food stores are to standard.
• Your essential skills and requirements will include:
• Working knowledge of homelessness, social housing, risk assessments, support an care plans, complex needs individuals and related settings
• Excellent communication, time management, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Good IT skills inclusive of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Good organisational skills, taking personal responsibility for following procedure, meeting targets, managing work priorities flexibly in order to meet changing needs
