THE HUMBERCARE ACCOMMODATION SCHEME
NORTH EAST LINCOLNSHIRE
Working in Partnership with North-East Lincolnshire Council's Learning and Childcare Directorate in order to meet the differing needs and circumstances of young people leaving local authority care.

The Humbercare Accommodation Scheme (North East Lincolnshire) has been set up to meet the growing need to prepare young people in the area of adult life and equip them with the life and social skills necessary for independent living.

All young people referred to the scheme are service users of the North East Lincolnshire Social Services Department and come under the banner of the ‘Leaving Care Act'.

The project recruits Accommodation Providers who can offer suitable, safe and well-supported accommodation for young people aged 16 - 21, either on a short or long term basis. The Accommodation Providers receive on-going support from Humbercare workers, as well as a weekly allowance from the local authority. Accommodation providers can be as varied as the young people we place with them and a suitable match is always sought in order for the placement to be successful.

A named Social Worker will continues to offer young people referred to the scheme support for the duration of their placement. Humbercare staff also provides on-going support for the young person.
